Typora is one of the most pleasant ways to write Markdown: it renders as you type and saves plain .md files. What it doesn’t have is a way to put those files online. It exports to HTML and PDF, but publishing a site is left to you.
This guide turns a folder of Typora documents into a website with Sentilis. Your files stay exactly where they are; there is no export step.
1. Open a folder in Typora
Pick a folder for everything you’ll publish — for example my-content/ — and open it in Typora (File → Open Folder) so the sidebar shows your files. Inside it, create a press/ folder for posts and docs:
my-content/
└── press/
├── hello-world.md
└── a-trip-to-lisbon/
├── a-trip-to-lisbon.md
└── attachments/
├── cover.jpg
└── tram.jpg
A text-only post can be a single .md file. A post with local images gets its own folder with an attachments/ folder inside.
2. Send images to attachments/ automatically
Sentilis uploads local images from the attachments/ folder next to each document. Typora can put them there for you:
- Open Preferences → Image.
- Under the action for inserted images, choose to copy the image to a custom folder, and set the folder to
./attachments.
Now every image you paste or drag into a document lands in attachments/, and the Markdown points at it:

Set this in Typora’s global preferences rather than per document. The per-document option writes a typora-copy-images-to field into the document’s front matter, which Sentilis reports as an unknown field.
3. Add a settings block
Type --- on the first line of a document and Typora opens a front matter block. Add a few settings:
---
name: A trip to Lisbon
category: Travel
tags: travel, portugal
---
name becomes the title of the page; without it, the file name is used. A cover.jpg in attachments/ becomes the image shown when the page is shared.
4. Publish
Install the Sentilis CLI once, log in, and sync the folder:
npm i -g @sentilis/cli
sentilis auth login <your-token>
sentilis sync ./my-content
Every document under press/ is now a page on your Sentilis profile.
5. Keep writing
Edit in Typora, save, and run sentilis sync again. Pages keep their URL as long as their slug stays the same. Use status: draft for work in progress: drafts are not visible on your site.
To check everything without uploading, run sentilis sync ./my-content --dry-run.
What else the folder can hold
Next to press/, the same folder can hold your bio (bio/), products and services (market/), memberships (prime/) and a visual portfolio (gallery/) — all written in Typora.
